Coloreel Embroidery Digitizing
Specialist Coloreel digitizing for embroidery that goes beyond traditional thread colours. As a Coloreel Certified Digitizer, I create production-ready files designed specifically for Coloreel's instant thread colouring technology, including smooth gradients, precise colour transitions and creative effects.
Digitizing Specifically for Coloreel Embroidery
Coloreel changes what's possible with embroidery by colouring a single thread in real time as the design is stitched. Instead of relying on a fixed selection of pre-dyed threads, the technology provides access to millions of colours, allowing for smooth gradients, precise colour matching and effects that are difficult or impossible to achieve with conventional embroidery.
But getting the best from Coloreel requires more than simply taking a standard embroidery file and adding colour. The design needs to be digitized with the technology in mind from the beginning. Stitch direction, sequencing, underlay and the positioning of colour transitions all influence the finished result. I build Coloreel designs around these requirements so that the embroidery and colour work together, rather than treating colour as something added at the end.

Coloreel Certified Digitizing Expertise
I've completed the Coloreel Academy and am recognised by Coloreel as a Certified Digitizer, with ongoing contact with the Coloreel team helping me stay up to date with the latest developments, techniques and recommendations for the technology.
That specialist knowledge is particularly important when working with gradients and colour transitions. Coloreel designs need to account for how much thread is consumed as the embroidery runs and where a colour transition will physically appear within the stitching. I work with considerations such as Color Change Precision (CCP), gradient positioning, stitch direction, entry and exit points, underlay and transition placement to create designs that are not only visually impressive on screen, but robust enough for real embroidery production.
One of the biggest advantages of Coloreel is creative freedom. Gradients can flow naturally from one colour into another, colour effects can be incorporated directly into the embroidery, and precise colours can be created without relying on the closest available thread from a conventional thread chart.
Coloreel Studio provides tools for solid colours, gradients and effects, with colour matching using values including RGB, HEX, L*a*b and Pantone references. Coloreel can also be combined with traditional embroidery threads through its multi-thread workflow, opening up even more possibilities when a design benefits from both technologies.
